Tarp / Winter Cover – 20′ pontoon

This gigantic tarp makes a great winter cover for your boat.  Shrink wrap is expensive and you have to buy it again and again every year.  Sure if you are careful you may be able to get two seasons out of it but are taking the chance that there may be a soft or thin spot that may give way under the weight of all that snow that is surely coming.  These covers can be used year after year after year.

The tarps you typically buy online or at the big box stores are normally only 3oz weight tarps – you know the ones – they kinda feel like tissue paper by the end of the season – if they haven’t shredded a bit in the wind from old man winter.  These are 7.6oz and feel much heavier then that.

The big blue tarps use grommets all the way around the perimeter that can pull out or break.  Every 24″ we sew tie down straps all the way around and backstitch them several times in 2 different places in order to make sure they stay on for good.  Tie it down as tight as you can – don’t worry – you won’t break the straps.

Most frame structures use a piece of wood or PVC pipe that goes right down the middle of the boat.  Those big blue tarps tend to wear out first right down the center where the center support is.  We sew reinforcement right down the center of the our tarps to ensure they can handle the load without prematurely wearing out.

Our pole system uses 68″ tall 1.25″ square aluminum for center supports.  Heavy duty webbing connects the poles down the center.  Side straps attach to the top of the poles to tighten to the side of your boat or even all the way down to your trailer ( extra length straps available upon request)
